Just saw Kerry on the Today show, and he mentioned that one of his first cases as a prosecutor was a rape case. He was so moved by the fear of the woman testifying that he went and created one of the first rape counseling centers. I checked around on general bios, and all it mentioned was 'he created a rape counseling program' or 'rape crime unit' or somesuch; it doesn't go on about his trials.

Why does John not mention this more? This is a fantastic stepping stone for an appeal to women. That is compassion. As an individual who works at a crisis hotline, I can appreciate Kerry doing that in a day and age when that was just not heard of.

Please send this to tellus@johnkerry.com Seriously. The campaign staffers do read suggestions from people, and I've already bugged them enough, I don't want to just copy it and send it myself. But I think you're right, and you should.

OK, I was already an avid and active supporter, but that just sealed the deal. This man has my full respect, admiration, and support.

I was initially very lukewarm towards Kerry. He doesn't come across as particularly warm and likeable on television. But the more I hear about the things he has actually done, the more I like and respect him. I wish his accomplishments were covered more. I'd love to hear about more things like this.
